When to use the generic compressor vs a preset page
Use a preset page — 20KB, 50KB, 100KB, or 200KB — when your exam's requirement matches one of those common ranges, since those pages also include exam-specific guidance and default pixel dimensions. Use this generic compressor when your notification states a KB range or pixel size that doesn't match any preset, or when you just want to quickly shrink an image to roughly "under X KB" without pinning to an exact exam spec. This tool works on images only — for a PDF file, use our PDF compressor instead.
